The Bachelor: Jason & Molly Weather The Storm On Their TV Wedding

After a recap of how Jason met Melissa and dumped her for Molly, it’s time for “The Bachelor: Jason & Molly’s Wedding.” Host Chris Harrison is outside, where the reception will take place, talking about the weather. Since this show insists on promoting everything we’re about to see, there’s really not a whole lot of intrigue in the will-it-or-won’t-it rain drama. By the way, if this thing wasn’t staged and the weather was such, you’d think a place like that would have an indoor or tented option. Of course that would also eliminate the helicopter invasion we saw in the promos, and what fun would that be?
So before we go back to the rain on their wedding day, which is either good luck or ironic, depending on whether you are Chris Harrison or Alanis Morissette, it’s time to catch up on what Jason and Molly have been up to since they got together. Following that, we get yet another look back at what happened between Jason, Molly, and Melissa. Only now, we get the added bonus of Jason and Molly’s commentary. By the way, it is ironic that we’ve seen this guy propose to two different women on television and neither is the one he’s actually getting married to now.
Chris keeps talking about the rain, before introducing a video that features other “Bachelor” couples who are still together. First, we have Jake and Vienna, who were together for about a millisecond when this footage was filmed. Then Jason-rejectee turned Bachelorette, Jillian and her fiancé Ed playing house in Chicago. Season 7’s Charlie and Sarah are now closer to some thing that implies commitment. And finally, the original Bachelorette, Trista and her guy, Ryan who got married in a super-pink TV wedding of their own, and now have two kids.
Next, we have a look into the planning of this event. First, the couple visit “Bachelor” series regular, Neil Lane, and try on wedding bands. Then, Jason and Molly look stiff and uncomfortable in a meeting with wedding planner, Jo Gartin. They eat cake, and make a wise decision to go with the red velvet. Invitations, flowers, décor, gift registries, dress shopping follow and tada! Wedding planned.  This means it’s time for the bachelor and bachelorette parties in Las Vegas. Cue the music and we’re off.
For a show that’s called “The Bachelor” you would think the bachelor and bachelorette parties would be slightly more exciting. Don’t get me wrong, the suites are great and the fact that no one in the wedding party has to plan anything or pay a dime is awesome but as a viewer, it’s all kind of blah. Again, it’s called “The Bachelor.” Anyway, the activities commence and the girls hit the spa and the guys hit the tables. Then the girls watch as Molly looks uncomfortable learning “sexy” dance moves. The guys tease Jason at dinner, the girls give Molly wedding night advice, they hit the clubs, and then Jason and Molly meet up in front of the fountains at the Bellagio, which Molly calls “the most romantic spot in the world.” She’s drunk, right?
After some footage from the “traditional rehearsal dinner,” we see Chris Harrison outside in what is now a full-blown monsoon. The wedding planner talks about how ridiculous it is that they aren’t indoors. Clearly she wants to make sure her name and reputation doesn’t go down with this sinking ship. But before Jason and Molly walk/swim down the aisle, we get to see them getting ready for the big day.
Molly freaks out at the sight of her hairstylist, Ken Paves. She can not believe that the same person who does Jessica Simpson and Eva Longoria’s hair is actually doing her hair!!! And Mally Roncal, who does Beyonce, JLo, and Rihanna’s makeup is doing her makeup!!! Seriously, she’s really excited. Even her bridesmaid’s newsflash that it is pouring rain outside, can not dampen her spirits.
Meanwhile, Jason is talking to his dad about how his five-year-old son will not be seen on camera anymore.
And back to the girls, who are now shrieking over an all-inclusive Caribbean Vacation for the entire wedding party. Then, Jo Gartin comes in and hands Molly her wedding bouquet with a note from Jason attached. That’s good for a few “Awws” but it’s nothing compared to the reaction the SHOES!!! get when they are brought in. Molly is more relaxed and natural than she’s ever been on camera and is clearly having a great time getting ready for the wedding.
Jo then stops by to give Jason a note from Molly. Never a guy to shy away from getting emotional on camera, Jason gets choked up as he reads what she wrote. And I’m tearing up too…
Guests begin to arrive and are absolutely freezing. Former Bachelors and Bachelorettes, who may or may not have actually spent anytime with Jason and Molly, stop by to do arrivals interviews with Chris Harrison.
Then, we see the paparazzi on foot and helicopters overhead. Someone gets a photographer in a headlock and then we’re back to Chris, who is now talking to the first girl Jason proposed to on TV, Deanna Papas and her boyfriend, Jillian-reject Mike’s twin brother.  Jillian and Ed are next, followed by more women Jason rejected.
And finally it’s time. There’s a rainbow in the sky and the umbrellas are down as the wedding procession begins. Jason Castro plays “Somewhere Over the Rainbow” on the ukulele as Molly walks down the aisle. Jason Mesnick’s lower lip quivers at the sight of his bride and now I’m tearing up again. The ceremony gets underway, and Jason and Molly look like they might blow away. The rain is still at bay at the commercial break, and we see the rainbow over a yellow roof somewhere.
Another rainbow, somewhere in the sky brings us back and we hear Molly begin to recite the vows she wrote for Jason as the rain starts coming down. Then Jason recites his vows. They are getting totally soaked, the guests are laughing, and it’s actually sort of pretty in a highly produced TV kind of way.
Then it’s inside for the reception.  Friends and family talk to the camera, Molly’s dad makes a toast, and then Chris Harrison announces that he has another surprise for the couple. How much did you want him to bust out a rose or invitation to the fantasy suite?!? Was that just me?!? Well, the surprise is actually a performance by Gavin DeGraw. The camera pans through the faces of old bachelor and bachelorette contestants as Jason and Molly take the floor for their first dance.
Chris Harrison wraps it up and we see Jillian and Ed partying, and Molly throwing the bouquet. Then, we return to footage from earlier in the day when a rain-soaked Jason and Molly are coming inside after the reception. They seem very happy with their TV wedding and now Molly gets to have her hair and makeup done all over again! Happily ever after indeed!
